7Viksit Bharat @ 20472023-12-11 to 2023-12-11Viksit Bharat @ 2047 is the Vision of the government of India to make India a developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of its Independence. From our department, Prof. Ranu Gadi and Prof. Chhaya Ravi Kant attended the inaugural ceremony physically at LG Secretariat/ Residence. All the faculty members, staff and research scholars of the Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities attended the live telecast of inauguration of the Portal ViksitBharat@2047 by the Honourable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi. The inaugural ceremony was followed by a special address by the Prime Minister in which he highlighted the importance of Viksit Bharat and how the youth can contribute towards it. He also threw light on the role of youth during the time when India gained independence by actively participating in the freedom struggle. The same zeal is expected from the youth our country to contribute towards Viksit Bharat 2047.

10OSA IGDTUW Student Chapter Conducted OPTIX Movie Mania2023-11-08 to 2023-11-08The event began with many eager students wanting to join the movie mania. The movie chosen for the event was 'Barefoot Gen', which, as anticipated, managed to capture the attention of all the students and got them engaged. The movie fit right into the Science and Technology theme of the event. The movie depicts World War Il in Jafian from a child's point of view, revolving around the events surrounding the bombing of Hiroshima and the main character's first hand experience of the bomb. The students praised the choice of movie, calling it one-of-a-kind, and said it to be a unique experience. Various thoughts and ideas related to the movie were discussed, and much was left for the students contemplation.' .

52 Faculty Development Programme on Effective Teaching2014-07-21 to 2014-07-25The department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, IGDTUW organized a 5-day Faculty Development Programme on “Effective Teaching” in collaboration with National Institute of Technical Teaching Training and Research, Chandigarh for all the faculty members of the University. ASH FDP 01 The FDP was scheduled from 21st-25th July 2014 at Seminar Hall, Administrative Block of IGDTUW from 9.30 AM to 5 PM. The Programme aimed at equipping the faculty members with requisite knowledge and skills to enhance their competence in imparting education and make teaching-learning process more enriching and effective. The course of “Effective Teaching” had been designed for faculty of technical institutions and aimed at developing requisite knowledge and skills for planning and delivering teaching effectively. The contents of the course were: Dimensions of Effective Teaching, Planning for effective teaching (instructional objectives, selection of appropriate methods and media), Skills for effective delivery (motivating students, classroom communication, student involvement) and Evaluation and feedback.
